Where refunds show up
| Place | What you see |
|---|---|
| Your Returns | Returns you started and the status of their refunds. Amazon asks you to allow up to 30 days for a refund. |
| Your Transactions (under Your Payments) | Refunds among all your charges, by date. No export button. |
| Request your data → Your Orders | Refund Details.csv in the ZIP: every refund of the account with date, amount, order ID and reason, as a file. |
How to see your full refund history
- On the Amazon website for your country, open Account & Lists → Your Account → Data and Privacy → Request your data (Amazon's help page links straight to amazon.com/hz/privacy-central/data-requests/preview.html). Menu wording changes; searching Amazon's help for request my data also finds it.
- Choose Your Orders, submit, confirm the e-mail and download the ZIP when Amazon says it is ready (full guide).
- Drop the whole ZIP on the box above. The Refunds tab opens with totals per currency and year, and every refund next to its order.
- Filter by year or marketplace, search for an order ID or product, and download the list as Excel or CSV.
Files that hold refunds
| File in the ZIP | What it contains | How it is read |
|---|---|---|
Refund Details.csv (current exports) | Order ID, Refund Amount, Refund Date, Reversal Reason, Reversal Status, Currency | Dated by Refund Date, or Creation Date when the refund date says “Not Applicable” |
Retail.CustomerReturns…, Retail.OrdersReturned.Payments… (older exports) | Order ID and refunded amount | Same as above |
Digital Returns.csv | Kindle books and other digital items, one row per money component (price, tax) | Components added up into one refund per item and date |
How refunds are matched to orders
- By Order ID. Each refund is looked up in the order files you opened, physical and digital. When the order is found, the table shows its order date, products and order total.
- Product names come from the order, because the refund file has none. Digital returns name their item and are matched by order ID and ASIN.
- Orders not in your files — for example when you opened only the refund file — show No under Order in your files. The refund still counts in the totals.
- Refunds are not split per item. A refund belongs to an order; when the order had several items, the refund file does not say which one was refunded.
Counted once
- Amazon sometimes repeats one refund on several identical rows (same order, amount and date). They count once, and the file list shows how many rows were merged.
- The same rule applies across files: if you open two exports of the same account, a refund that is in both counts once.
- Two refunds for one order with different amounts or dates are two refunds — for example a partial refund followed by the rest.
Refunds in your totals
- Refunds are never subtracted from “spent”. The Totals and Lifetime tabs show spent, refunded and spent − refunds side by side.
- A refund counts in the year of its refund date, which can be the year after the order.
- Refunds of fully cancelled orders are not subtracted while cancelled orders are left out of the totals — otherwise the same money would be taken off twice.
- One total per currency: a refund in euros never reduces a dollar total.
Frequently asked questions
Does Amazon have a refund history page?
Not as one list. Your Returns shows the returns you started and their refund status, and Your Transactions lists refunds among all charges. The complete history as a file comes with the Your Orders data request, in Refund Details.csv.
Why does the refund file have no product names?
Amazon lists refunds by order ID and amount. The viewer looks the order up in the order files of the same ZIP and shows its products and total next to the refund.
Some refunds say “No” under “Order in your files”.
Their order ID is not in the files you opened. Open the whole ZIP rather than only the refund file; orders from a marketplace that was not part of your data request need that marketplace's export too.
Is a refund counted twice if it is listed twice?
No. Rows with the same order, amount and date count once, within one file or across several. Different amounts or dates for one order are separate refunds.
Can I export the refunds of one year?
Yes. Pick the year in the filters (it uses the refund date) and click Download Excel or Download CSV on the Refunds tab.
Is my order history uploaded anywhere?
No. The ZIP or CSV is read by JavaScript in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored after you close the tab.
Do I have to sign in or connect my Amazon account?
No. You download the file from Amazon yourself and open it here. This site never asks for your Amazon password and has no access to your account.
