How to get your Kindle purchase history as a file
- On the Amazon website for your country, open Account & Lists → Your Account → Data and Privacy → Request your data (Amazon's help page links straight to amazon.com/hz/privacy-central/data-requests/preview.html). Menu wording changes; searching Amazon's help for request my data also finds it.
- Choose Your Orders and click Submit request. Digital purchases come with your orders; the separate Kindle category is mostly reading and device data.
- Click the confirmation link in Amazon's e-mail, wait for the second e-mail saying your data is ready (often within hours) and download the ZIP.
- Drop the ZIP on the box above — no need to unzip it. The Digital tab opens with your digital orders.
What the Digital tab shows
- Every digital item: order date, title, price, currency, order ID, ASIN, status and marketplace, plus the seller of record and publisher when the file has them.
- Totals per year and per currency, the number of items and your first and last purchase. Cancelled or failed digital orders are left out unless you tick Count cancelled orders.
- Prices include tax. The current file has a net
Priceand aPrice Taxcolumn; whenPrice Taxis the larger one it already holds the tax-inclusive amount, otherwise the two are added. Layouts with anItem Totalcolumn use that. - Search and filters work as in the order table: search by title, ASIN or publisher, pick a year or marketplace.
- Export exactly the rows you see to Excel (.xlsx, with a totals sheet), CSV or the clipboard.
Book, app or subscription? How the type is found
Amazon's digital orders file does not always say what kind of item a row is. The viewer shows only what the file itself states and never guesses from titles — a book called “Kindle Unlimited: The Complete Guide” is still a book.
- Category column: some layouts of the digital file have a
Categorycolumn (for exampleKindle eBook). Its value is grouped into Kindle books & eBooks, Audiobooks, Apps & games, Video, Music or Subscriptions & memberships; any other value is shown as written. - Audible: rows whose marketplace or seller is Audible are marked Audible.
- Everything else is Not stated in the file. The total is still complete — it just can't be split by type.
With the current export layout you may therefore see one large “Not stated in the file” group. To narrow it down, search for a word from the titles or a publisher, or export to Excel and sort there.
What is not in the digital orders file
- Borrowed books (Kindle Unlimited, Prime Reading) are not purchases. Subscription charges count only if Amazon lists them in the file; the viewer adds nothing from your library.
- Reading history, highlights and devices are in other parts of the data request and are not read here.
- Refunded Kindle books are in
Digital Returns.csv. They appear in the Refunds tab, matched to the digital order, and are subtracted in the lifetime total — not from the digital total, which shows what you paid. - Prime membership fees are billed outside orders and are not in these files.
Frequently asked questions
Why are my Kindle books not in Order History.csv?
Amazon puts digital purchases in a separate file of the same ZIP, Digital Content Orders.csv. Open the whole ZIP (no need to unzip it) and the viewer reads both; the Digital tab lists only the digital ones.
How much have I spent on Kindle books?
The Digital tab totals every digital purchase per year and currency. If your file has a Category column, pick Kindle books & eBooks in the type filter to total books alone; if it doesn't, the file does not say which rows are books, so the total covers all digital items.
Are free Kindle books and Kindle Unlimited borrows included?
Free books appear with a price of 0.00 when Amazon lists them in the file: they count as items and add nothing to the total. Borrows are not purchases; the viewer shows only the rows the file contains.
Can I see my Kindle purchases on Amazon without a data request?
Yes, one by one: Your Orders has a Digital Orders view, and Manage Your Content and Devices shows your library. Neither gives a total or a file to download; the data request does.
Do I have to sign in or connect my Amazon account?
No. You download the file from Amazon yourself and open it here. This site never asks for your Amazon password and has no access to your account.
Is my order history uploaded anywhere?
No. The ZIP or CSV is read by JavaScript in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, nothing is stored after you close the tab.
